Bike to Work – Over 27 Million Kilometers Traveled by Bicycle!
Stromer not only encouraged its own employees to participate in the Bike-to-Work Challenge 2024, the largest bicycle promotion by Pro Velo Switzerland. Stromer is also the main sponsor of Bike to Work for three years for good reason. Read more about the background of this commitment as well as how successful the 2024 Challenge was overall and for the participating Stromer staff.

Easy participation with pedal assistance
To offer people who have so far only commuted by car and public transport an easy entry into bicycle commuting and to convince them of its benefits, Bike to Work participants could borrow a Stromer free of charge for up to a week at selected Stromer dealers. Additionally, interested parties could rent a Stromer at a low rate from the Stromer Flagship Store at the headquarters for the two challenge months.
Bicycles in trend - a solution for the challenges of urban commuting
Bike to Work 2024 surpassed the 2023 challenge: this year, more than 109,000 employees from 3,840 companies participated, covering around 28 million kilometers by bicycle - despite modest weather conditions. Overall, this action saved over 4016 tons of CO2 compared to a combustion engine car.
In general, the development of bike advocates and commuter behavior in favor of bicycles is encouraging. This positive trend is not only evident in Switzerland; many cities in Europe are following suit or are already exemplary models with bike-friendly infrastructure, legislation, or commuter culture.
And the commuter teams at Stromer?
Even though a large part of the Stromer workforce already commutes year-round by S-Pedelec, 11 teams of four came together to participate in the challenge. During the rainy months of May and June, they covered a total of 34,135 km in 1,106 bike days, saving 5 tons of CO2. Although the challenge is officially over for 2024, it continues at Stromer, where teams are encouraged to extend the challenge until the end of the year.
