Ready to start your winter commute
You don’t want to stop riding, even in winter? Impressive! We will show you how to prepare yourself for getting through the cold months:
Service
Check the light system, brake light, tires and brakes of your Stromer bike. And consider winter tires for optimum grip.
Equipment
For your bike:
Are you already familiar with the “Snow” motor setting? On slick and slippery surfaces in particular, it can be useful to decrease the torque slightly so that the rear wheel does not spin when starting off.
You should also protect your battery against the cold at night.
For you:
Be like an onion and wear layers. For example, with a 3-layer jacket together with a down mid layer and softshell or 3-layer overpants, and accessorize your outfit with a headband, (over)gloves, glasses, shoe covers and the like.
You can increase your visibility with reflective elements or fluorescent colors. And with a helmet with an integrated rear light.
Care
Regularly clean your bike of dirt and road salt with a damp cloth. Pay particular attention to maintaining your chain. We recommend using chain cleaner as well as a special wet lube chain oil that stays on the chain even in snowy and slushy conditions.
And what else should you note?
The adjustment of your speed: Among other things, snow, leaves, fog, curves, roundabouts, rails, railway crossings and road markings currently contribute to an increased risk of slipping.
And be sure to keep your favorite mug at the office for warming up with a coffee right after you arrive.
