Stromer building up digital expertise
The new Stromer team in Cluj brings cutting-edge expertise and experience from the high-end automotive sector in the digital services area, to complement the development team at Stromer’s head office in Oberwangen.
With this investment, Stromer is building up its digital expertise with the aim of offering a digital experience on a par with the automotive sector in the near future, while at the same time enhancing performance and quality, and last but not least extending its position as innovation leader.
Co-CEO Karl Ludwig Kley explained the expansion of the digital hub in the following terms: “In an increasingly digitalized bike market, it is hugely important for Stromer to hold onto its pioneering position in connected e-bikes. Development activities for new digital services and features will now be brought together at our new location in Cluj, helping us to systematically implement our new digital strategy.

Co-CEO Tomi Viiala added: “We were way ahead of our industry with our first connected e-bike model, which we had brought to market with our own, small software development team. We were the first to offer a SIM card in a bike and the first to launch our own app. By now investing in the Cluj hub we have taken the next logical step and created a vital basis on which to drive forward our technology over the next few years.”
The 25-strong team of experts in Cluj covers the entire range of digital disciplines, from UX (user experience), through mobile, online and embedded development (system design & programming), to back-end development.
