To make sure our customers can be both efficient and safe road users, we use high-quality components such as tires designed to keep a good grip of the road, a powerful lighting system with brake light, high beam and low beam, powerful brakes and the ABS. A standard feature of some models and optional on others, the ABS prevents the front wheel from locking up and the rear wheel from lifting off.
Since this is a tremendously important safety feature of our bikes, we decided to work with Bluebrake – the ABS experts.
Blubrake’s solution: an invisible Anti-lock Braking System hidden inside the bike frame
Blubrake was established in 2015 in Milan with the vision of improving electric vehicle safety. The company developed, patented and rolled out the first-ever Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) for e-bikes that can be fully integrated into a bike’s frame. The system was specifically developed for the diverse Pedelec sector, leveraging cutting-edge automotive technologies and applying them to e-bikes.
The ABS prevents front wheel lock-up, controls the rear wheel lift-off and improves the bike’s general stability and maneuverability, making cycling safer on all terrains, even the more slippery ones.
Blubrake ABS Generation 2 – how it works
Blubrake ABS G2 was launched in 2022. It is half the size and half the weight of the first version.
The ABS features two components that communicate in real time. A sensor measures the front wheel’s speed and delivers the information to the main unit. The unit consists of an electronic board and an actuator, which estimates the e-bike’s dynamics based on the data collected by the speed sensor and accelerometers, detecting potentially dangerous situations that can occur while braking. Using this data as a basis, the actuator continuously modulates the front brake’s hydraulic pressure to avoid wheel lock-up and ensure smooth braking.
