Winter Cleaning Tips for Your Stromer Bike

Man on Stromer speed pedelec

As the winter season sets in, it is essential to give your Stromer Bike a little extra TLC to ensure it continues to perform at its best. Cleaning your speed pedelec in cold temperatures requires some special attention to detail. Here are some expert tips to help you keep your Stromer Bike in top shape during the winter months.

1. Remove the battery

Start with removing the battery from your bike and close the battery door. If needed mount a strap around the frame to hold the battery door closed. If you can, take the opportunity to charge your battery at room temperature to ensure optimal charging, while cleaning your speed pedelec.

2. Avoid high-pressure cleaning

First and foremost, never use a high-pressure cleaner or spray your Stromer Bike directly with a hose. Cleaning with high-pressure water can lead to water penetrating the bike, potentially causing damage to the sensitive electronics. Instead, opt for a gentler approach.

3. Mild soapy water and non-scratching sponge

To clean your Stromer speed pedelec, prepare a bucket of mild soapy water. Use a non-scratching sponge to gently scrub away dirt, grime, and road salt. This combination effectively removes surface contaminants without risking any harm to your bike's components.

4. Rinse your bike thoroughly

After cleaning, make sure to thoroughly rinse the bike with clean water and a clean cloth. This step helps remove any remaining soap residue and ensures that no corrosive substances are left behind. Please do not use a high-pressure cleaner or a hose to rinse your bike.

5. Dry your bike with a soft cloth

Using a soft cloth, like a microfiber towel, carefully dry your Stromer Bike. Pay extra attention to areas where water may have accumulated, such as around the motor, battery, and electronic connections. Ensuring your bike is completely dry will prevent any potential issues related to moisture. Let your bike air dry before inserting the battery again.

6. Tire care

Don't forget about your bike's tires! You can use specialized tire care products to maintain optimal traction and extend the life of your tires. Apply the product as directed by the manufacturer for best results.

7. Lubricate moving parts

In winter, it is crucial to pay extra attention to the moving parts of your Stromer Bike. Apply a suitable lubricant to the chain, gears, and other moving components. This helps prevent rust and ensures smooth operation, especially in wintry weather conditions.
Please refrain from using chain spray, as it may inadvertently come into contact with the brakes or tires while applying. This can result in decreased performance of both the brakes and tires.

8. Inspect for damage

Take this opportunity to inspect your bike for any signs of damage or wear. Check the frame, cables,  belt and brake pads for any issues that may need attention. Addressing small problems early can prevent them from becoming more significant down the line. Contact your dealer for repairs if necessary.

Conclusion

Proper winter maintenance is crucial to keep your Stromer Bike running smoothly throughout the colder months. Remember to be gentle with the cleaning process, avoiding high-pressure cleaners and hoses. Instead, opt for a bucket of mild soapy water and a non-scratching sponge. Thoroughly rinse and dry your bike, paying special attention to sensitive areas. Don't forget to care for your tires and lubricate moving parts for optimal performance. With these tips, you can enjoy your Stromer Bike all winter long.
